My Tarot for the Advent 10-Day Tarot Challenge sta My Tarot for the Advent 10-Day Tarot Challenge starts December 12 on Substack!

Inspired by the sacred season of Advent but completely secular (and shortened!) in nature, we'll explore the four themes of Advent with our tarot cards:

🌟 Hope 🌟

🕊️ Peace 🕊️

🪩 Joy 🪩

🩷 Love 🩷

Tarot for the Advent is NOT about about opting out of holiday fun! It’s about carving out a few minutes each day so you don’t lose yourself in the whirlwind.

Whether you're a complete tarot beginner or a seasoned reader, this 10-day community tarot challenge will help you connect with your tarot cards, get clear on what you value the most, and tune into the version of you you’re ready to step into this coming year. From darkness to light. 🌟

The daily challenge emails will go out to all paid supporters of my Su8st4ck newsletter, Tarot Professor newsletter. So if that’s you, you’re set and there’s nothing more you need to do! (And if you’re not in the mood for a tarot challenge, you can opt out of the challenge emails - don’t worry!)

If you’re not a paid supporter yet and you want to join us for this tarot challenge, just upgrade for $5 at the 🔗 in my 🪪 👉🏼@thetarotprofessor.

(P.S. You can always go back to a free subscription after the challenge if you want.)

Are you in? 🎄🕊️🌟⛸️❄️⛄️🎁
Tell me your favorite tarot deck and I’ll tell y Tell me your favorite tarot deck and I’ll tell you a small business that captures its vibe deliciously!

That was the approach I took for the EPIC #ShopSmall for tarot lovers guide I sent out recently. Scroll through for some of the beautiful pairings, and then read the full post on my Substack for more! Go to you know where to get it 👉🏼🔗🪪 @thetarotprofessor.

P.S. While shopping is a top 3 activity for me year round (let’s be honest), I will definitely be in need of a detox and balancing out of holiday commercialism soon! For this reason, I am creating a special 10-day tarot challenge for my Su8st4ck babes. Coming soon so stay tuned! 🔔🌲🕊️

Which tarot and shop pairing is your favorite??? 🥰❣️
Happy Sagittarius season! ♐️ Sag rules the Tem Happy Sagittarius season! ♐️ Sag rules the Temperance card in tarot, which is such a healing card!

If you're like me, you are a complex, multi-faceted human being. And in the past, I had a lot of trouble reconciling the different parts of me. For example, was I a professor or a writer? An academic or a witch? Would anybody want to learn about tarot from a mythology and literature professor? And would any of my colleagues respect or encourage this non-academic writing? Could I be both? All?

Everybody’s different, of course, but I realized that for me, compartmentalizing and keeping things separate isn’t always optimal. It’s fkng exhausting to be perfectly honest. 😩 Temperance teaches us that seemingly incompatible substances can sometimes mix together in beautifully creative and transformative alchemy.

Instead of living in the land of either/or, maybe we can be reveling in a new land of both/and and don’t even know it. There are no rules. Sagittarius makes their own rules and invites us to do the same this season.

Swipe through today's post for a super simple and fun tarot reading trick inspired by these musings. Let me know what you discover! 🌞
Here are 2 newer tarot books to consider adding to Here are 2 newer tarot books to consider adding to your tarot bookshelves based on 2 existing favorites that have been on my shelf longer! 👀 💖

1. Ancestral Tarot: Uncover Your Past and Chart Your Future by Nancy Hendrickson (@nancysageshadow) is a tarot workbook filled with spreads and prompts designed to help us connect with our ancestors, explore their gifts, heal the trauma they may have passed down to us, and more.

If you loved the personal and interactive approach @marykgreer used in Tarot for My Self to lead us down a path of self-discovery, you probably need Ancestral Tarot on your tarot bookshelf as well!

2. Tarot in Other Words: An Essential Anthology by Leading Queer Tarot Writers, edited by @mx.cassandra.snow, includes contributions by brilliant tarot writers like Meg Jones Wall (@3am.tarot), Charlie Claire Burgess (@the.word.witch), and Maria Minnis (@feminnis), just to name a few. This collection of tarot essays uses a queer lens to shine a light on tarot from new angles and perspectives that enrich the cards for readers of all levels.

If you loved the way contributor Meg Jones Wall's Finding the Fool went beyond old-school tarot interpretations to open the archetypes up for all genders and identities, you'll love this anthology too.

Which of these have you already read and loved, and which are on your wish list? Let me know below!
I finally caved and bought a dreamy and bigger-tha I finally caved and bought a dreamy and bigger-than-usual bag for myself and now I can take a mini tarot deck and my planner with me everywhere! As God intended.

Do you have a travel tarot deck or a purse deck? A lot of my favorite tarot decks at home came in gorgeous heavy boxes so they aren’t very portable. But @weiserbooks has a few mini/pocket decks now that are PERFECT for this. I love a good tarot-in-a-tin deck too!

What deck do you like to throw in a bag with you in case you need to pull a card on the go or give a friend an impromptu tarot reading?
I know modern wisdom preaches slowing down and tak I know modern wisdom preaches slowing down and taking our time and prioritizing rest above all else but I’ve been pulling the Knight of Swords over and over again in different tarot decks lately and sometimes - perhaps as an exception or intervention - we have to stop being so cautious and comfortable and complacent and SPEED THINGS UP by going out on a limb we do not feel prepared for and doing the scary thing without having thought everything through. I don’t make the rules - I just pull the cards. 🩵

Where are you at right now? Needing to press pause and take a beat, or put yourself out there and speed things up a bit?
