You just bought your first tarot deck. 🎉 Now wh You just bought your first tarot deck. 🎉 Now what?

Here is exactly how I did it - my pro tips for getting started with tarot reading for absolute beginners:

1. Look through your tarot cards. Examine them curiously and get to know the imagery and artistry of your tarot deck.

2. Read the guide book that came with your deck. Learning the creator and artist’s vision and intention with the tarot deck can help you “get it” and connect to these specific tarot cards even more.

3. Take the time to shuffle the cards and get used to them in your hands.

4. When you’re ready, ask your deck a question and pull a single tarot card. Just go for it! Shuffle the deck while asking a question like one of the following out loud: "How can I open my heart today?" or "What lesson am I being reminded to pay attention to today?" Then turn over a single card to answer the question.

5. Here's the most important part: Don't rush to look up the card's meaning in a guide book! Look at the imagery and describe what YOU SEE FIRST. How does the card's imagery seem to be answering the question you just asked? If you had to interpret the imagery and symbols COMPLETELY ON YOUR OWN and make it up RIGHT NOW, what would you say?

6. Then, go ahead and look up the card's meaning in a trusted guide book or website. I like Biddy Tarot's meanings a lot. How close did you get? Where did your interpretation overlap, and how did it differ? Look back at the card as you read the meaning to understand where these meanings come from. (This is where a Rider-Waite-Smith or close derivative deck is key!) Take notes in a tarot journal for extra credit! ☺️

7. Rinse and repeat this process (ask, draw, interpret yourself first, then look it up). That's how you learn and remember naturally and effectively with no rote memorization or overwhelm!

So many myths and superstitions linked to tarot ca So many myths and superstitions linked to tarot cards and tarot reading! Here are just 3:

❌ You must be gifted a tarot deck.

❌ You can’t read tarot for yourself.

❌ You must be psychic to read tarot.

My most popular (and trolled!) YouTube video debunks these and a couple more tarot myths. (Link to my YouTube channel is in my bio.)

What are some other tarot myths you’ve heard that you wish would be debunked once and for all? Let me know below!
wondering how to stay objective when reading tarot wondering how to stay objective when reading tarot for yourself? it’s not about getting the right crystal or knocking your deck against the table the correct number of times or anything like that (although feel free to ADD those ritual elements TO this practical advice!)

The way you stay objective in your tarot card interpretations - especially when reading for yourself or asking a tarot question you’re really invested in or worried about - is to STUDY TAROT CARD MEANINGS.

As I always say, the art of effective tarot reading is a combination of intuition AND intellect. See this in action in my tarot course (link in bio @thetarotprofessor 👈🏼👈🏼👈🏼).

Do you have trouble reading for yourself, or do you prefer it to reading for others? I personally am all about reading tarot for myself and teaching others to do the same. Let me know where you land!

Every year I make the same mistake: I take the bol Every year I make the same mistake: I take the bold audacious action-packed energy of Aries season too far and I burn out. So here are my yearly reminders in case you need them too.

We can take action and manifest dreams, AND still maintain and respect essential boundaries:

✨ between work and rest

✨ between you and your employer

✨ between you and your clients

✨between your needs and the needs of others

✨between your aligned action and the Universe’s time to respond to that action

I speak from personal experience when I say it’s so easy to fall back into old, unhealthy, ego-driven patterns when we feel stressed or excited or nervous or pressured, or want something to go well very very much. That’s why I love tarot and how it reminds us to check in with seasonal, Universal energies and get back into flow.

What are the toughest boundaries for you to maintain when you are pursuing your goals? Let me know below!
Imposter syndrome be rearing its ugly head lately Imposter syndrome be rearing its ugly head lately and our tarot cards can help!

When we start entertaining thoughts of “I have nothing original or helpful to say” or “Ugh who am I to think I can help or add to this conversation?” or “I don’t think anybody will listen or care, I just won’t share it” or “omg I could never catch up with that person so why bother trying?”…

Our throat chakra may be blocked. Chakras are energy centers located at various parts of our bodies that regulate and support various domains of our lives. The throat chakra, located at the throat, when nice and open, allows us to communicate clearly, express ourselves, and live authentically.

So if you feel like imposter syndrome and insecurity are making you shrink back or second guess any kind of message or goal or work you are doing, STOP AND DO THIS TAROT SPREAD and clear away that stagnant energy!

The tarot questions for this four-card tarot spread, in case you can’t read them in the image, are:

1. Why do I have trouble expressing myself?

2. How can I more confidently speak my truth?

3. How can I stop imitating, or comparing myself to others?

4. What message am I being called to share with others?

Let me know if you try this spread, or hit that save button to come back to it! 💜
