Did you know that every tarot deck is organized th Did you know that every tarot deck is organized the same way? Every tarot deck has the same number of cards, the same types or categories of cards, and in the same order, with a couple exceptions or variations here and there.

Even when a tarot deck changes some names around, the basic anatomy of tarot stays the same. It is this anatomy and system that is tarot. The images might change and some of the names might change, but change it too much and your deck isn’t a tarot deck anymore.

So if you’re new to tarot and looking for a standard tarot deck, this graphic is for you! Because I’ve realized that every now and then a publisher or deck creator uses “tarot” as a synonym for divination or oracle, and then you have a 100 or 50 card deck that’s simply not a tarot deck. It can still be a really cool deck for connecting to your intuition and gaining insights! A lot of intuitive readers even prefer oracle decks to tarot decks. But it helps to call things what they are and avoid confusion.

TLDR: Not all divination decks are “tarot” decks! Here’s a basic tarot deck by the numbers. 🧮
Every August, I spend the last couple weeks of my Every August, I spend the last couple weeks of my summer break getting ready for a new semester with my college students. This year, I found myself wishing I could do the same thing with my tarot community. Then I thought, “Wait. Why can’t I!?”

As a result, I've never been more excited about a semester even though I somehow convinced myself that teaching English 101 at 8:00 am was a totally doable and not disastrous at all idea. Will anybody show up? Will they be on time? Will I!???? Only time will tell.

But I digress.

OUR fall semester, tarot bestie, starts September 1st on Su8stack! The first course I'll be offering is MAGIC MATH: NUMEROLOGY IN THE TAROT. We'll learn how the language of numbers can reveal hidden connections, recurring themes, and deeper layers of meaning in both your tarot readings and your personal journey. DM me if you have questions or go to you know where for more details.
🚨 TAROT HOT TAKE ALERT! 🚨 We've all b 🚨 TAROT HOT TAKE ALERT! 🚨

We've all been there. We ask our tarot deck a question, pull a tarot card, and immediately go, "Nope! Do-over!" and put that card right back in and shuffle some more. (Raise your hand if your deck has ever spit that card right back out though!)

Or, we pull a tarot card, decide we aren't quite sure what it means, pull another one for clarification, don't quite like that one either, and keep pulling cards until we get that 10 of Cups or whatever it is that lifts our spirits higher than Matt Berninger's voice coming in on the second verse of "Coney Island."

Tarot isn't a slot machine though. We aren't supposed to keep pulling cards until we get an answer we like. That kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

Any time I find myself doing this, I stop and think about (or even journal about) why I'm so nervous or uncertain or fearful about the question I've asked or the topic I'm exploring. What potential truth am I avoiding? What am I afraid of? What might I not be ready to hear? What am I attached to? Or, have I already made up my mind regardless of what the cards might say and don't actually need a reading right now? Bc that's fine too! Sometimes that's a more valuable realization than anything the 47 cards you pulled could have told you!

And, just in case this is anybody's first day on the internet, this is social media. The graphic is cheeky on purpose. You're not "supposed" to do or refrain from doing anything with your tarot cards. Please do whatever you want and build a tarot practice that feels right for you. Bless. 🌞

Dress by Tarot: TEN OF WANDS edition! When I need Dress by Tarot: TEN OF WANDS edition!

When I need some alignment and intuitive inspiration, I pull a tarot card to help me get dressed. The 10 of Wands reminds me that I can’t do it all and to let go of things that are weighing me down without any benefit. I translated that to an outfit that made me feel cute but wasn’t too fussy. It’s REAL HOT in LA still and I was meeting up with a friend to get some work done at a coffee shop.

Do you ever let your tarot deck inspire your outfit of the day or how you get dressed? Let me know!
