The suits represent the four elements of the Universe, which rule the four main areas of our lives.⁠ ⁠ Tarot 101: Understanding the elemental meaning of the suits is particularly helpful when you are drawing a general daily card without asking a specific question. It’s also helpful when you ask a more general question like “What do I need to focus on?” or “What is it time to release?” In these cases, knowing what the suit stands for helps give more direction and focus to the tarot reading.
