A tarot spread to help us lean into the curiosity A tarot spread to help us lean into the curiosity and adventure of Sagittarius season! 🏹

If you can’t see the questions in the graphic, here they are:

1. What do I feel most curious about right now?
2. What am I the most optimistic about right now?
3. What seems to be holding me back from growth?
4. What new adventure is calling to me?

And P.S. If you try this post, feel free to let me know what you get for the second question. I would not be mad at a collection of community optimism right about now. 😊
I turned 40 this year, so maybe that milestone is I turned 40 this year, so maybe that milestone is what has made me grow quite fond of the Six of Cups and the life advice this tarot card has to offer. In fact, I love what Michelle Tea's book Modern Tarot has to say about the 6 of Cups and aging in our society:

"Our culture is so youth-crazed that it encourages us to believe that our best years are behind us by age twenty-five. Of course this isn’t true, but if you’ve been feeling old before your time, this card is telling you to get off your ass and do something childlike. Play, run, dance, go rock-climbing, eat an ice cream sundae, dress inappropriately, go to a concert, make some sloppy art—do whatever it takes to pull yourself out of the mental doldrums. The children at the heart of this card encourage us to locate our inner child and try to see the world with their simple, innocent, joyful vision."

Happy Sagittarius season! ♐️ Sag rules the Tem Happy Sagittarius season! ♐️ Sag rules the Temperance card in tarot, which is such a healing card!

If you're like me, you are a complex, multi-faceted human being. And in the past, I had a lot of trouble reconciling the different parts of me. For example, was I a professor or a writer? An academic or a witch? Would anybody want to learn about tarot from a mythology and literature professor? And would any of my colleagues respect or encourage this non-academic writing? Could I be both? All?

Everybody’s different, of course, but I realized that for me, compartmentalizing and keeping things separate isn’t always optimal. It’s fkng exhausting to be perfectly honest. 😩 Temperance teaches us that seemingly incompatible substances can sometimes mix together in beautifully creative and transformative alchemy.

Instead of living in the land of either/or, maybe we can be reveling in a new land of both/and and don’t even know it. There are no rules. Sagittarius makes their own rules and invites us to do the same this season.

Swipe through today's post for a super simple and fun tarot reading trick inspired by these musings. Let me know what you discover! 🌞
Here are 2 newer tarot books to consider adding to Here are 2 newer tarot books to consider adding to your tarot bookshelves based on 2 existing favorites that have been on my shelf longer! 👀 💖

1. Ancestral Tarot: Uncover Your Past and Chart Your Future by Nancy Hendrickson (@nancysageshadow) is a tarot workbook filled with spreads and prompts designed to help us connect with our ancestors, explore their gifts, heal the trauma they may have passed down to us, and more.

If you loved the personal and interactive approach @marykgreer used in Tarot for My Self to lead us down a path of self-discovery, you probably need Ancestral Tarot on your tarot bookshelf as well!

2. Tarot in Other Words: An Essential Anthology by Leading Queer Tarot Writers, edited by @mx.cassandra.snow, includes contributions by brilliant tarot writers like Meg Jones Wall (@3am.tarot), Charlie Claire Burgess (@the.word.witch), and Maria Minnis (@feminnis), just to name a few. This collection of tarot essays uses a queer lens to shine a light on tarot from new angles and perspectives that enrich the cards for readers of all levels.

If you loved the way contributor Meg Jones Wall's Finding the Fool went beyond old-school tarot interpretations to open the archetypes up for all genders and identities, you'll love this anthology too.

Which of these have you already read and loved, and which are on your wish list? Let me know below!
