After more than a decade of working with tarot, I’ve realized that I reach for my tarot cards most to accompany my dreaming and scheming. Reading tarot for ourselves can help in SO. MANY. WAYS. But for me, I am noticing that the cards help me get clear on what I truly and authentically desire, help me see the path forward, and bring limiting beliefs and old fears that may hold me back to my attention. Tarot hasn’t really been about predicting the future much for me. It’s been more about shaping my future with intention and heart.

Some of my most popular posts on my tarot newsletter - The Tarot Professor - on Substack fall into the category of this kind of tarot reading. Swipe through for some of the titles. Then go to you know where (👉🏼🔗🪪 @thetarotprofessor) to binge and subscribe if this is your kind of tarot reading!

Which of the above tarot messages resonates with you most right now? I’m in that 7 of Cups kind of mindset myself I think…

Also, who knew Amsterdam was so dog-obsessed? So much fantastic dog watching is happening on this trip let me tell you. Also books. Also carbs. Oh my the carbs! Tomorrow I need to find a salad. We are spending the day in the Museumplein!

Have you been to Amsterdam? What’s your must see for this city?

And possibly a special tarot deck find? That would be amazing! 🤞🏼🌷 Oh and stroopwafel!

Do you have a tarot deck you bought while traveling that reminds you of a special city? Or maybe somebody brought you one from their travels? Let me know!
Here’s a quick and easy tarot reading you can do Here’s a quick and easy tarot reading you can do using the Strength card - the Major Arcana tarot card ruled by Leo - as an anchor. ♌️🩷

Strength in tarot is about a quiet, inner confidence that empowers us but also brings peace to both ourselves and those around us. The wisdom of this tarot card combines beautifully with the energy of Leos at their best: They know they are worthy of taking up space in this world and don’t shy away from sharing their magic! But they also know that their spotlight doesn’t have to come at the expense of others. There is room for everybody to shine. 🌟

Tarot spreads are SO. MUCH. BETTER than pulling 3- Tarot spreads are SO. MUCH. BETTER than pulling 3-5 cards, placing them in a row, rattling off keywords for each, and then patting yourself on the back for completing the least informative tarot reading you could have done.

There is no reason to draw multiple tarot cards for a reading if we are not going to link them together to tell a story. At that point, there’s nothing wrong with drawing a single tarot card to gain some insight. And if we don’t know how to link two cards together, we sure as hell aren’t going to know how to link 5!

But HOW do we link them together, you might be wondering. HOW do we know how they relate and and what story to weave using each tarot card as a part?

One way to practice, especially for tarot beginners, is to find tarot spreads in books or online (even right here on Instagram!) that have already predetermined the links between the individual cards for you.

For example, let’s say you are doing a classic Past - Present - Future tarot spread, and the first two cards you draw seem REALLY different. The positions in the spread help you say something like, “Ooh, I’m seeing a change of heart or perspective. In the past, I really prioritized X while in the present I’m feeling the drastically different Y. That’s probably why I’m feeling so confused and unfulfilled lately. I don’t want the same things I wanted in the past but I’m still acting as if I do!” And then you study the third card and maybe say, “It looks like I want to lean more into Y though because look at the way the figures in Y and Z are facing each other. It’s like my future fits nicely with the Y energy - this is something worth exploring. I mean, X really seems like the odd man out in this spread - been there, done that, time to let that energy go!”

Isn’t that lovely? All bc I used a tarot spread that took some of the intimidating and overwhelming guesswork out of it for me and helped me narrow down the potential links between the cards.

So if you’re having trouble linking multiple tarot cards together to tell a fluid, coherent story, use tarot spreads! Make tarot reading easier. 💜
