🧿 LIFE UPDATE: 📣 WE ARE MOVING!

This tarot professor and her little family are moving out of the place we have called home for the last twelve years!

We moved here right after I took the bar exam. We got engaged and married while living here. I was a lawyer here, a grad student, an adjunct professor, and I got tenure as a full time professor here too. We adopted our dog here. Helped him recover from surgery here. We quarantined here. Hosted family dinners and Christmas brunches here.

I started and ran multiple home businesses here (including a planner and stationery subscription box business - that was an era! 😅). I created multiple blogs, including TheTarotProfessor.com and my Substack, Office Hours with The Tarot Professor, here. Wrote and submitted my first book proposal here. (Spoiler alert: It didn’t pan out. 😭)

We have so many memories here, and I look forward to the new memories we will create in our new place! Change is difficult because all change involves endings. Something must be given up any time we change. I am nervous! And hopeful! A bit scared. What might go wrong? What might not be how I imagined? What might I miss?

But also what might go brilliantly and beautifully?

I didn’t plan to move during Scorpio season but I’ll take it. Thank you for coming along the journey with me. 🌟

1) The SPICIER 🌶️🌶️ way to take this is that there is no such thing as predicting the future or fortune telling, with tarot cards or anything else. That's a myth or, at best, a fun party trick like reading a collective horoscope that sometimes comes true and sometimes is completely inapplicable to your life. (Unless, of course, you claim to have psychic powers which I personally do not, although I do believe in synchronicities and being in tune with Universal Intelligence.) In fact, this is probably partly why I prefer to read tarot for myself. When I read tarot cards for others, I feel like it's implied that I have some special mediumship ability or can commune with "the other side" or something like that and that's simply not the case. Many (not all) modern tarot readers are more self-reflective in our tarot style and believe it works by allowing us to tap into our own subconscious and intuitive wisdom - no psychic mediumship work going on or anything like that. ⁠

2) The MILDER 🌶️ version is that tarot doesn't "reveal" our future in the sense that what we see in the cards is not fixed. We can always change course if we want. Many people are afraid to work with tarot cards or to get a tarot reading because they don't want to receive bad news, as if turning those cards over is locking them into a fate that would otherwise remain up in the air or in their control if they hadn't consulted the cards. The way tarot "reveals" the future is by reading CURRENT energies and then PREDICTING a LIKELY trajectory if things continue in the same way. Don't like what you see? Change course, sweet pea! You are the master of this ship! Tarot can even help you do this. In fact, asking your cards how to do that is a much more empowering and constructive experience than passively asking “What’s gonna happen?” 🌟⁠
